EFI supports Gawad Kalinga’s educational program

Children from the Gawad Kalinga-Pinagsama community performed at EFI’s company launch on October 25, 2011. Also in the photo are EFI’s President/CEO Rajan Uttamchandani, Esquire International Financing Inc. founder Ashok Uttamchandani, and Gawad Kalinga Child and Youth Development Program Volunteer Arnold McKenzie.
With the launch of Esquire Financing Inc. in October also happened the beginning of EFI’s commitment to support the educational programs of Gawad Kalinga, an organization of volunteers seeking to build and empower communities to eradicate poverty.
Through the coordination of Mr. Arnold McKenzie, Gawad Kalinga Child and Youth Development Program Volunteer, and Esquire’s VP for Corporate Development and HELP Foundation’s Ravi Uttamchandani, Gawad Kalinga-Pinagsama was born. The project sought to contribute to GK’s educational program by providing classroom equipment, instructional materials, school supplies and instructors for Pinagsama communities.
Children from Sibol 1 and Sibol 2 in Brgy. Pinagsama in Taguig were the main beneficiaries of the outreach projects, mainly coursed toward educating pre-school children, aged 3-6. Now a year after, the project has recently graduated 32 pupils, all qualified for elementary school in the 2012-2013 school year.
Since then, the children have become a virtually adopted community, having been in Christmas party with EFI’s management, staff and friends, and getting treats from the generosity of EFI friend Ricky Mirani. In February of this year, the children also enjoyed a day at the Manila Ocean Park.
With more generosity from friends and volunteers, Esquire Financing Inc. hopes to soon launch extensions of the Gawad Kalinga-Pinagsama project, including computer literacy and adult literacy programs.
EFI, HELP Foundation (Esquire International Financing Inc.’s non-profit microfinancing arm) and Gawad Kalinga welcomes your involvement in this cause. Contact us at (02) 846-2923 or visit our website http://esquire.com.ph/ .
